In an era of automation, repetition, simplicity and depersonalization, Coil, Pinch, Repeat seeks to highlight the unique, human nature of clay. Using coils or pinching techniques, each piece carries the touch of the maker. Some pieces may still have fingerprints while others are near-perfectly blended; regardless, each work is a reflection of the artist's hands and the process behind the creation of their work.

Coil, Pinch, Repeat invites viewers to consider objects in their day-to-day life that maintain a personal touch. Perhaps it's a mug with stains from coffee, a shirt that is altered, or a chair with a perfect indentation of where someone regularly sits. How do our hands leave a mark? What do these objects tell us about our daily habits? What marks do you notice on the objects you have with you? How does this express our individuality?

The 2026 Gallery Show Application period is closed. The next show application period will open in late August, 2026 and close October 1, 2026 for the 2027 calendar year.

Ruby’s Clay Studio & Gallery presents 12 month-long exhibits throughout the year, showcasing an array of sculptural and functional ceramic work by artists using a variety of clay bodies, glazes, and firing techniques.
